This trip was fantastic and we really enjoyed the members in our group, however the average age was 69 and it was difficult carrying our backpacks for the 1-3 day excursions. It was a lot of moving around in very hot, humid weather.

Itinerary

We saw so many things and experienced multiple forms of transportation. The schedule was rigorous but we still had free time to shop or explore on our own.

Lodging

Although the Buddhist monastery was interesting, the futons were extremely uncomfortable and we didn’t appreciate the paper walls between rooms which provided no privacy.

Food

We fully embraced the Japanese food but also appreciated the American breakfast options at the hotel. The meal provided at the inn on Miyajimacho was amazing!

Guides

Our best guides were Charlie and JJ, although the others were competent as well EXCEPT for the guide at Himeji Park; who was of no use whatsoever and almost caused us to miss our train!

Pre-Tour Handbook

There was A LOT of information provided before the trip. I wish the part about filling in the Japan website forms prior to arrival had been emphasized and explained more.
