Coffee, Coffee, Coffee Pt 2

As promised, I have compiled a list of must-try specialty coffee shops in Osaka and Nagano.

Osaka

Osaka is the second largest metropolitan area after Tokyoa and is a large port city. It is best known for its amazing food but you can find some devine coffee as well.

Lilo Coffee Roasters:

1F Shinsaibashi M Building 1-10-28 Nishi-Shinsaibashi, Osaka

Lilo is a very quaint in-house roastery that has everything you need. They have a delicious house blend but also have a large list of single origins and give you a card to explain in detail about the bean you are drinking. You can also buy beans to take home.

Mel Coffee Roaster

1-20-4 Shinmachi, Nishi-ku, Osaka, Osaka

Mel Coffee Roasters is a good spot for excellent coffee in Osaka. Winning 3rd in the 2019 Japan Coffee Roasting Competition, its safe to say they know a thing or two about their beans. They offer espresso, paper drip, V60, French press, cold brew, and you can also buy a bag of beans from them on your visit.

Nagano

Nagano is a city sourrounded by the Japanese Alps and is Japan’s highest prefectural capital, with an altitude of 371.4 meters (1,219 ft). Nagano is also where the 1998 Winter Olympics were held. Now that you have an idea of this picturesque city, lets find out what they have to offer in the way of good coffee.

Foret Coffee

21 Higashigocho, Nagano City Grand Heights Omotesando Nibankan 103

In Nagano City, along your walk to Zenko-ji Temple, you will find Foret Coffee, a very popular spot for some great coffee. Foret roasts in house, has a house blend, but also has specialty blends that change daily. You can buy beans from them or t-shirts to support their shop. One thing I love about Foret is they have a cherry tree in front of the shop with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the blooms when in season.

Overall I think you will be pleasantly surprised to find the coffee culture in Japan is becoming popular and you won’t have to venture far to find a place passionate about serving good coffee.
